When the invitations for a wedding shower go out, they should go out, first of all, to people who are invited to the wedding, or have been invited to the wedding. You do not ever invite someone to a shower who's not included in the wedding party as a guest, so let's start with that. Secondly, the people invited to the shower are generally the people who are the closest to the bride, or the bride's family. The people that are acquaintances who are invited to the wedding, but aren't really close, are not the ones that come to the shower. The wedding shower should be the closest friends; smaller showers of twenty to thirty people, at the most, tend to be the nicest. When they get to be really big, they get unwieldy, they aren't as intimate and they don't feel as good.
