A Day In The Masai Mara
A wonderful time in the great park.
Step 1:
Narrator: Oh my god it is morning time on the African savannah. In fact it’s so dark, it’s so early but look at what we’re seeing; see if I can catch them, just stepped outside of our tent and there were a bunch of giraffes just walking by. Just that moment alone makes up for so much, I feel like I’m going to be redeemed today. Oh my god, imagine just stepping outside of your tent and seeing a bunch of giraffes walking by. Wow.
Step 2:
Narrator: This is the front of our tent, there is Mary Ellen coming out, we’re ready for a great adventure for today. This is going to be a wonderful day, we’re really excited. Look at that view. So Mary Ellen is closing up our tent she was our Masai guard. Go ahead and get mum and dad, go eat, and then start the safari. Should we go see what my parents…should we go eat too first? Ok. So my parents have already left their house.
Step 3:
Narrator: So this is where we slept last night, it’s so early. The sun hasn’t really risen yet but now I’m showing you the day view; this is my first view of the walk that we did last night as I had no idea what we were doing. And there’s the office so it’s really not far at all.
Step 4:
Narrator: So we can get some coffee and then we will be on our way. Good, good morning. Here we are. Ok, good morning. There’s mum, alright. And here’s dad having some coffee, morning there dad.
Step 5:
Narrator: Ok now we’re going in to the reserve.
Step 6:
Narrator: Something must be big in there, they’re all eating. I can see the hyenas chewing the spinal column or something. Some are over there just chewing into it, you can smell the smell here of the flesh.
Step 7:
Speaker 1: Can those things walk in the water? To play around!
Step 8:
Narrator: Here you can see he’s wide awake. Narrator: Exiting the Masai Mara, heading back to the lodge for lunch. Wonderful morning, we’ve seen three of the big five.Narrator: This if your first view of our room by the way. Here’s Mary Ellen washing up the things.
Step 9:
Mary Ellen: Washing Pots.
Step 10:
Narrator: So this is really back to the very primitive, we have no electricity right now it wont be on till 6. There’s our showers, I’ll show you our toilets. Towels; our suitcases are right here, there’s more suitcases. And there’s the bed right there, that’s it. Let me show you from the other side, what it looks like. This is our entire living space and yet this is actually very nice. This is a very nice living space in comparison to what people are used to. And I’ll show you one more shot of the outside by daytime. There’s the zipper that we use to zip up our tent. Let me step outside, then there’s my hand to pull the tent back down. So here are these two little recliners we can lounge on. This morning I was showing you this pond here, there’s hippos. They come through down there. They usually don’t walk up here but you never know what can happen out here in the African wilderness. So this is our humble abode.
Step 11:
Narrator: There is a cheetah sitting there watching. We don’t know if he’s going to run or if he’s going to do anything.Narrator: He’s not going to jump up here. Get down. He’s that comfortable. This is a whole nature special right here. The cheetah just jumped, he’s right over here on our…Speaker 2: Just give him his space.Narrator: Well if he starts going towards us then I’m a goner or something. Look at this, look at his eyesight. Oh my goodness, look at his eyes are so red! You can’t even see any pupils or anything.Speaker 3: What are your feelings on this now?Speaker 4: Terrible. Terrible, terrible.Speaker 3: Tell me, how do the people back home know how you’re feeling?Speaker 4: I feel very scared. I really am, I don’t know those people take it. I hope the windows and everything are locked. I don’t know how they do it.Speaker 3: On TV yeah.Speaker 3: He’s moving around, and he’s looking inside. Those people must be just scared out of their minds.Speaker 5: He’ll just move off. He’ll just leap offSpeaker 4: Oh don’t let him come here. Speaker 3: Yeah don’t let him come here. You have to take a picture! Speaker 4: Ok he’s coming here I told you. Just start the engine.Speaker 3: Don’t stare. Well I’m back here!Speaker 4: First you say that you’re scared and then you go to the front.Speaker 3: Well she passed us. Speaker 3: Wow, this is really cool. Narrator: Oh my goodness it’s mating time!Narrator: He’s marking his territory.
