A Guide To Cat Nutrition

I just have a few tips on cat nutrition. Obviously, it is important that the cat is fed well to give it a happy life. Always go for suitable food for the cat and preferably a preservative free food, a natural food.

If it's a normal cat without any certain medical issues, dry food is probably the best. If the cat suffers from things like urinary tract problems or cystitis problems, with lots of liquid out of the system, you may want some wet food or moist food instead. When buying food, always read the labels.

There's lot of pet food out there, unfortunately, there are lot of additives, preservatives and chemicals in the food which obviously does not help the digestive system and also adds to any behavioral problems. So, always check the labels. Always make sure that the cat gets plenty of water left down with easy access.

Some cats do like running water so you can get things like water fountain and they are quite good that would stimulate the cat. Always pick up food that's uneaten. Don't leave food all the time.

A lot of pet owner let's the cat eat it which isn't a good thing because it does affect the digestive system and some of them can cause chemical issues as well. Always feed twice a day. That helps the digestive system, as much as their brain chemicals, serotonin levels - something like that.

Do not feed on commands as some pet owners as when the cat feels hungry. Again, this will develop to bad habits and it's negative reinforcement. And if you have any problem with food or special diets, the best thing you can do is contact a pet nutritionist.

So, these are just things that you need to take into account when you're looking at a cat's nutrition. .
