A Guide To Cognitive Therapy

In this video, a counselling psychologist presents a brief discussion of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or CBT. What it is, where to find it and how it can be of benefit to you.

My name is Michelle Bassam. I am a counselling psychologist and also the clinical manager for Harley Therapy. Today, I'm here to talk to you about different aspects of therapy and how therapy can help you as individuals or as couples.

This is a short introduction to CBT, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. This is one therapy that is actually scientifically proven. Many GPs now recommend CBT as a therapy for most of their patients.

It is very important, when you are looking for a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist, that they are the right one for you because there is so much inter-reaction between you and the therapist. It's a talking therapy and it's a doing therapy. Please make sure that you research thoroughly, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and the type of therapists that would be right for your presenting issues.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy helps you manage problems, by changing the way you feel and think and act. CBT therefore, encourages you to talk about these problems, in relation to how you are thinking about yourself and the world around you. GPs and many professionals recommend the techniques used in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to enhance their patients/clients life.

Please research fully into Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and make sure that the therapist is the right therapist for you. At Harley Street, we have many Cognitive Behavioral Therapists of a very high caliber that would be able to help you. Thank you very much. .
