A Guide To Family Video Games
In this this VideoJug film, Andy Robertson, the creator of the online portal Game People, talks about the various strategies that will help people in the family across all ages to enjoy playing video games as a family.
Now, video games often have the reputation of quite isolating and quite dangerous. As a parent, I will talk about myself about my concerns. But my experience with games is that actually, they contribute as much to the family life rather than anything else.
We enjoy watching games and playing games together, just as much as may be watching shows on TV. Playing games within a family setting is different. Obviously, you have got a range of ages, starting with a Nintendo V, consoles have been catering much more to a family market and more recently have been joined by Xbox Kinect controller and the play station move controller, two of the games which are much more active and easier for players of different ages and different abilities to play with each other.
My tips of playing games as a family is much about getting involved with each other and bringing games back into to the family space. The best way to play games with your parents or with your children is to find experiences, which you can share and find games that you like it as a whole family and they become part of the whole pattern of the day-to-day life. Obviously, as with anything, you don't want to play games with the time and in my family, we treat little bit like a TV.
The kids will watch it for an hour or two a day and we will limit them to that much time and they are quite happy with that and it doesn't like to play games in a family with hand-eye control. There has been a stream of Nintendo DS that are catering to the family market and with the PSP, lovely console. It's a great way for people to play the game while having their own space, self- contained, every day, can play at the same time.
That's my quick introduction to the family video game. .
