I'm going to talk about playing video games on a tight budget. Games are often seen as a really expensive hobby because they are often portrayed as needing new kit and hardware every few years and obviously, the games themselves are quite expensive. But actually, there are a few quite simple ways that you can enjoy video games without having to shell out again and again.

One way is to wait until games have got a bit older, the value of a game decreases over time because there's quite an active resell market. You can usually pick up really top titles at a knockdown price. You can find these games in high street stores where they often have a 'Used' section; you can also find them second hand on eBay, Amazon and Play.

com in 'Seller' areas. You can also take this a step further by rather buying this year's console, buy the previous generation and by doing that you open yourself up to a whole range of games which were really sort of top tier when they came out but are much cheaper. And you can enjoy sort of the fruits of previous year's game development and save yourself some money.

An example of this would be to rather than buying the latest Nintendo 3DS, perhaps instead pick up one of the original Nintendo DS's. Now, it may not have all the new exact features of the new game but you can still find lots of really excellent games to play on it and it'll cost a fraction of the price. You can take that a step further, by going back to the original Gameboy Advance.

Again, there's some really good games on this and it'll cost you, maybe, under ten pounds. So by not having to play the latest games, perhaps by using older technology and by shopping around to find a bargain, you can save yourself a lot of money playing video games. That's my guide on how to save money playing games .
