Hello there, Ken from Hillcroft Lacrosse Club, and I'm going to talk to you about lacrosse equipment. This is just a basic overview of the equipment that you need to play lacrosse safely. The most important thing is a helmet.

As you can see, it's full face, protects your face, protects your head, protects your neck a little bit. This is absolutely essential if you don't want to basically die when you're playing, so a helmet is something that's in the rules and if you want to play men's lacrosse, you have to wear it. The next piece of equipment we have are the gloves, and these protect your hands, because when you're in possession of the ball, other players will try to hit you in the hands and in the arms, so it's really important that you make sure you have the right pair of gloves.

These are nice and flexible, have padding on the thumbs and padding on the outside of the hand. You'll notice that it's a really soft mesh in the middle just so you can get good control of the stick and do your moves with the comfort and protection of having that outside there to absorb any checks. Another thing that people find useful, especially if you're playing in the higher leagues are chest pads, and what these do is these just go over your chest and they protect your heart, the front of your chest, your back and your collarbones, because sometimes those sticks come down on your collarbone and can just separate it or break it.

So, if you're prone to that kind of injury, you might want to wear some chest pads but you don't need them in the rules. The last thing is arm guards. These are smaller than most arm guards, but they do the basics, it helps protect the elbow from those checks.

If you go and talk to an attack man, he's going to have a lot bigger, more substantial padding and gloves. So, that's a quick rundown of the basic equipment you have for lacrosse. Wait, I forgot the box, you have to wear a box as well, that's really important. .
