Hi, my name's Mike North. I play for Hillcroft Lacrosse Club and I'm going to give a quick overview of lacrosse gloves. The key things that you look for in a glove are flexibility and how comfortable it is, but also protection, obviously, being a full contact sport.

The basic composition of a glove is soft on the inside so you can grip the stick and you still have quite a good feel. On the outside, there's protection. I suppose what you look for the better quality gloves will feel like you don't have too much clunky glove on.

But they'll have a lot of protection in the key places. For example, that is something that you will find, that you won't find on really bad gloves, but it's quite key because when you're holding a stick like that and someone else's stick slides down it, that's one of the first places it could hit. The foam protection is also quite key because that's something that gets shock a lot by the stick.

And a goalie who would be having a lot of shots on them would also have a bigger glove and a bigger thumb piece. And this is another part that you find on better gloves that's perhaps not on some of the lower range. It's a wrist protector.

So if you're quite holding your stick like that, it leaves yourself exposed and a stick can get in there and it quite hurts. Some people do have space, their pads there, which can get hit there. In general, you're covered with all the right places.

If you have a clenched fist and you have a glove like that, so no matter where the stick hits, it should be padding rather than any soft bits even though soft bits do occasionally get hit. Then, this color links up with your arm pads which cover your shoulder and cover your elbows. These two pieces of padding are compulsory for obvious reasons if you got hit on elbow with a stick or hit someone on the hand, it's obviously going to hurt very quickly, If you want to get a good pair of gloves, you're looking at roughly 50 pounds upward, some of the higher range being about 120 pounds.
