A Guide To Lacrosse Goalie Equipment
In lacrosse, the goalie's equipment is slightly different from those of the other players. So, in this video, a goalie himself, shows every single thing that is essential for the game and how to use them.
I'm just going to go through a quick short guide on what a goalie's equipment is and show you key differences. I'll start with, obviously, most lacrosse players have to wear a box goalie. It's absolutely essential so make sure you wear some leg protection on a box.
Some goalies also wear shin pads sometimes but I find it slows me down for running so I don't wear them. The next thing is a goalie stick. A goalie stick is obviously a lot bigger than most of the other sticks and a goalie shaft is a tiny bit longer than most shafts and the key difference is the much larger head.
So, those are obviously because goalie positions, you're getting kind of 70 to 100 miles per hour shots coming at you and we don't get high enough but in America, they kind of go up to 120. But goalie's head, as long as it gives you a lot, it's a lot larger so you can get more opportunities to save. One of the key things is I think, obviously, it's critical to have a nice pocket to hold the ball and that's good to clear.
The next key thing is the goalie's helmet. With goalies helmet, the key difference is having a guard. The chest pad comes up so high.
You have to be out of stop shots coming in and hit you in the neck. Obviously, shots could come in there rising shots and things like that, getting hit in your throat would be quite dangerous so it's the key thing for protection. Final thing is the goalie glove.
Goalie gloves, same as the normal glove, then you have added thumb protection so you have a much larger thumb protector. And that's my round up on goalie's equipment. .
