Some of the best tips in playing lacrosse are founded on the basics. Like other sports, you have to practice and stay fit. But this film tips you off with a chilled-out way of practicing your lacrosse pass and a strategy for your defense and more, that will seriously get your lacrosse game on.

I'm going to give you some tips on how to play lacrosse. My first tip would be, as soon as you started playing, like picked up a stick, whatever, is I think to wall ball which is passing the ball against the wall. It seems so simple.

Put earphones in, stand very close to the wall and make ten passes with your left hand against the wall, ten passes with your right hand against the wall and then you take – if you get all those power, quickly step back and keep it like that, you know, listen to music, it's quite chilled out and that just improves your skills so much like every single player from the best players in the world. So, complete beginners do that as much as possible. My second tip would be defense.

It's like people always seem to want to win the ball when you play defense and take the passing stick and play body. Like lacrosse defense, you can learn from any other sport, it's just positioning and keeping your body firm and giving them the wrong directions. So if you can just have it more thought rather than anything else.

So, my next tip is about catching the ball and you know, I play for Ireland, lots of whom I've met, lots will try and catch the ball down here and it's actually a lot more difficult. You'd catch up by your head, choke up on the stick with your hand and catch right where your head and absorb the pass. My next tip about lacrosse, like in the beginning, would be to walk for your fitness.

You don't have to be able to run a marathon as it's usually rolling substitutes throughout the game. You have to be quick and be able to run fast for a short pass often and you also need to work on your core strength. You don't need to be big, you don't need to be strong, but you need to have a strong core.
