A Guide To Muscle Recovery
Learn about one of the key elements that helps you build muscle by watching this video tutorial. Nick Mitchell, the owner of Ultimate Performance speaks about the importance of rest in the muscle building process.
Hi, my name is Nick Mitchell. I am the owner of Ultimate Performance Personal training here in London. Today, we are going to talk about how to build muscle.
We are going to look at various different topics and cover everything that we can to help get you the muscle mass, the muscle development that you want and to give you all of the little tricks of the trade that helps make this personal business here the best in the business. You are going to the gym to stimulate. You eat correctly to enable your body to regenerate and remodel from that stimulation.
But you will not, you will not, have a positive adaptive response which is essentially what muscle is. Muscle growth is a positive adaptive response to the stimulus, to the stress of lifting something that you are not used to lifting. You have to rest, your body will only grow when you are resting.
You have to aim to have really 8 hours of sleep a night. If you are dealing with a power dine, if you are dealing with the prefect situation, and I had somebody come to me, and had 3 months to get ready for a movie or something and they want to put as much work as possible, I would have them have a nap in the middle of the day as well. Now, you don't need to do that, it is not vitally necessary to growing muscle, but I use that as an illustration of really what you should be doing.
Sleep should be a priority. If you want to put muscle on and every weekend on the Friday and Saturday night you go out, you are drinking 4 or 5, 6, 7 pints, a few vodkas and dancing until 4 o'clock in the morning, you are not going to grow muscle. It is just not going to happen.
So you need to rest. Muscle growth does not occur in the gym, stimulation occurs in the gym. You fuel your body with nutrition but you actually grow when you are resting, and if people could remember that there would be bigger men in the world and those are the 3 key things that I would say you need to hold on to and to hold them here, and here when it comes to your goal of trying to build muscle. .
