Now, either they choose a very good physiotherapist above a chiropractor or osteopath just because they look at things differently and they include rehabilitation into the therapy. So if you come to me to treat you for your neck pain, these are all things I would look at, is where is the pain coming from. Firstly, what's causing it? Then we have certain tools in our toolbox to manipulate the spine that's where you actually take a stiff joint and you firstly mobilize it and then you can go into manipulation which is just basically the cracking of the spine, for example.

But I will also look at soft tissue treatment. If there are spasms, we can work on the spasms in the muscles. We use techniques like dry needling or acupuncture where we go into the actual tightness, into a tight spot in the neck, and try to release the spasm.

We also look at if the nerves are compromised and then we can do nerve mobilizations and the big thing for us is posture correction. But as the patient, you have to realize that you have to correct your posture and you might have to do a few lifestyle changes like buying a new bed or getting a new chair and then the final thing that's a lot of times missing in treatments is the rehabilitation. We have to get the right muscles strong.
