A Guide To Pagaent Hair
A Guide To Pagaent Hair
Beauty Pageant is more than just beauty or looks. Your hair matters, too. The pageant hair is different from the modelling hair. This video provides a guide to what kind of hair you need for Beauty Pageants.
Hi. I am Liz Fuller. I am the new boss at Miss Great Britain and a previous winner from 1997 and for the last 13 years, I have been working as a TV presenter and producer at ITV and Channel 5.
Today though, I am going to be giving you advice on the beauty pageant world. So, a guide to pageant hair. Pageant hair is always clean hair.
This year at Miss Great Britain, we went around the country and did 60 heats. We met a lot of girls that woke up in the morning, had a shower and did nothing with their hair. That doesn't impress us.
Beauty pageant hair is about having clean and bouncy and shiny and hair that would necessarily see in an advert. So, think TV commercial like CAT TV with a squish advert, think of that. Why? Because we are linked to beauty companies that sponsor us, so you never know when we may have a spray company involved or a hair dye company involved.
So, really make sure that your hair is your crowning glory as, of course, the expression goes. So, the difference between beauty pageant hair and the modelling hair is very different. If you go for model casting, you want your hair to be very simple, maybe very straight on your shoulders or maybe high back or a loose ponytail and then it's more about your model book.
In a beauty pageant, it's about you being a finished article. So for instance, at regional heat, we want to see big hair, but it's a smaller stage, so you don't want to go over the top. We don't want to see crinkly hair; we don't want to see loads and loads and loads of hair spray.
The hair spray used should be soft. And when you come to national final, then of course, you need to start using clipping, hair extensions to just have really big showgirl hair on stage. Don't wear your hair up unless it's the cocktail night, the night with sponsors, family and friends.
If you were doing also a runway catwalk show, which is different to beauty pageant, then you can get your hair done for you, and they would do some whacky kind of designs because it's the leader fashion, right. We are not about that at all. We are about finding a beauty elegant hair, elegant girl with stunning hair and lots of it.
We still like big hair, we still probably like the 80's Barbie look, but we know that you are more than just a Barbie, so you are a beauty queen but you know how to weigh your hair. So, good luck and see you at the finals perhaps. .
