Psychology and Astrology have been connected since ancient people studied them. This video will explain who studies Psychological Astrology, and where it came from.
Hi, I'm Nick Hughes. I'm an astrology teacher. I've been working in this field for the last ten years.
Today I'm going to be talking about various aspects of astrology. This is a guide to psychological astrology. Now, although aspects of psychology have been present in astrology ever since the Greeks, you know, three thousand years ago, two and a half thousand years ago, psychological astrology as a kind of discipline itself really came about ever since Freud and Jung in the early twentieth century.
Jung in particular was very interested in astrology and he would often say that in difficult cases when he couldn't quite understand his client, he would often pull out their horoscope and by studying their chart, he would gain a lot much deeper insight into the things going on for his client and therefore that would really assist the therapeutic work for that client. So for the psychologically oriented astrologer, astrology becomes less about divination, prophecy, forecasting, telling someone when they're going to meet their love of their life. But it's more about understanding some of the deep patterns and issues and helping - facilitating, in many ways, the clients understand themselves better.
So that would be the main focus of the psychologically oriented astrologer. And this in particular became very popular, particularly in the seventies and eighties. And the center for psychological astrology, that's still running, set up by Liz Green and Howard Sportis is kind of one of the most popular colleges around today.
And a lot of leading astrologists practice there and teach there. So there are two types of astrologists practicing psychological astrology today. One of them would be a qualified psychotherapist or psychologist who utilizes astrology in their work with their clients and others would be more astrologers with an interest in psychology and that can give some kind of understanding into the subconscious for their client but are not necessarily trained in psychotherapy work themselves.
And that's a guide to psychological astrology. .
