A Guide To Recycling

In this video, a cleaning expert will teach you how to recycle at home, what you can recycle and what you can't, and some other helpful tips.

Today, we're going to talk about recycling. Recycling is a really good habit to get into; landfills are becoming so full that we now need to find new ways to get rid of our rubbish. These are two boxes that are used in an office environment, where they're recycling all their old paper and their tin cans.

You could do something like this at home. You can buy plastic bins, which you can label up, you can get those from places like Ikea, that stack up, or if you've got the room, you can have three sets of maybe flip-top bins, push-top bins, that you could use: one for paper and cardboard, one for plastic and one for tins. It's great that the offices are now taking recycling more seriously.

Here, we have things like paper and card in one pot there, and tin cans in here. One of the things people do get confused over is paint, because it's in a tin, they think it can go in the tin box and that's fine to go out with the dust bin, but it actually can't. If you have cans of paint, like this, that are left over and you don't need them anymore, you need to take them to the recycling depot, there's usually a local one in your area, if you look that up on your local council's website, or put it into Google with your area, it'll tell you where your waste recycling depot is, and you can take that down and get rid of your paint.

Another way to recycle is with local authorities, they're now giving out plastic bags, where you can put your recycling out on the pavement once a week or once a fortnight. Do use them, recycling really is just a habit, and like anything habitual, the more you throw away, the more you pop into your little bins, the more you won't have to think about it, you will do it automatically. .
