A Guide To Sun Protection Products

Hi there. I'm Abi Cleeve from Ultrasun. I've been in the sun care industry for thirteen years, really helping people to make the right decisions on their sun care choices.

Today, I'm going to try and do the same for you. Sun protection is all about finding the right products that suit you and your family. It's so important to choose the right SPF so that's the perfect place to start.

At Ultrasun, I'm afraid we don't even bother with the low and very low category of SPF because we feel that everybody should have at least medium protection. Medium protection, that's between 20 and 30 SPF, is really designed for adults with an olive or dark skin. However, getting the formulation right is really important.

We use two different types of protection 20. We've got a creamy moisturizing one which women love and gives a lovely sparkle to the skin and then we've also got the liquid gel loved by men, great for sports because you won't perspire it away and will stay with you all day. The great thing about Ultrasun products is they really do last all day.

I'd say to you as I would any product, please read the instructions that the product will stay with you even if you're dipping in and out of the water. We then move up to the next category, the high category, and this is for anybody with a fair skin, definitely the lowest level that children should ever be on even in this country. At Ultrasun, once again, we've come up with two formulations, a moisturizing one which is very kind and sensitive, suitable even for babies and used very much for new moms and young children, and also we have our spray Sports 30.

This is a product that's great again if you're involved in sports, for guys. It's a clear liquid spray which disappears on the skin. If you are a guy and you have hairy arms and hairy legs, the last thing you want is a thick white gloop layer.

So, what you can see is you've got that super thin clear liquid base and you just simply rub that in and you are well-protected. We then go up to the highest level of protection, the very high category and there we have our Ultrasun 50+. One of the problems with high protection is a lot of people find them thick and hard to rub in.

That's the great thing with Ultrasun, we try to think of everything to make sun protection easy. It disappears on your skin very quickly and just one application a day will continue to protect you. Just think about doing the kids in the morning before school and you know they are protected at lunch time.

It's an absolute boon. It also teaches children that sun care can be very easy, something they can fit into their routine, and once it's done, they're good to go and play. I will just mention after sun because after sun is a very important part of protecting your skin.

You do need to use protection that has an ingredient that will help your skin not just about hydration, it's about repair. In hour one, we use superoxide dismutase, a product proven to help repair the skin. When you're looking after yourself in the sun, always start with high SPF but make sure you do use the whole routine to really protect you and your family's skin. .
