A Guide To The Bicep Muscle
VideoJug and massagenerd.com present a great video giving you an in-depth guide to The Bicep Muscle. This helps you to find the trigger points of The Bicep Muscle through and easy and informative instructional video.
Step 1: The Biceps Brachii
The next one that I want to go over is the biceps. The biceps, biceps brachii is the actual technical term of it, but a lot of people just say biceps. It’s the coracoids process of the scapula and the tubercle or the glenoid fossa of the scapula.
Step 2: Locating The Biceps Brachii
So, right up on this region, and then the actual insertion is the posterior portion of the tuberosity of the radius. So the radius, so the radius right here, the radius bone, the radial bone, and the ulna bone. So usually, to actually remember that is the radial pulse. The radial pulse is the radial bone so that you can actually remember those regions then. But this is actually considered anatomical position when the palm is face up. So that’s where you can locate the biceps brachii then.
Step 3: The Major Actions of The Biceps Brachii
So, the major action of biceps brachii is the flexion of the arm and forearm and supinates forearm. So supinate, so this is pronation, so this is supination, ok. So the anatomical position is supination.
So, in flexion of the arm, so that actually brings that up like this and the forearm too, so it goes like this.
Step 4: Referral For The Biceps Brachii
So the biceps brachii is easy to find the trigger points to which you want to do is basically find the belly of the muscle right here, ok. So there’s one on each side. So the typical referral for the biceps is actually, it just goes down a little bit or it can just go up a little bit.
So again, it’s right in the center, right here for the biceps.
Step 5: Locating The Brachialis
The next muscle I’m going to go over is the brachialis. So again we go over the coracobrachialis up here. Next one is the brachialis. So this basically for the brachialis is right in this region. So it’s underneath the biceps. So the biceps is a more superficial muscle and the brachialis is just underneath it.
So it actually starts here, goes down to this region here, ok.
Step 6: Referral For The Brachialis
So with the brachialis, which have them do is actually have them flex, and then you feel the biceps and have them relax. And right at the lateral notch right here, that’s where you actually locate the trigger points.
So the referral for the brachialis should actually go down to the thumb region. That’s a typical referral. So especially us massage therapists, that’s where we get some problem is right in the thumb region.
So again, were just going to palpate right in there. But it’s actually a good idea to have them flex first just so you can locate those areas.
