Andy Goetsch On Poker And Hold’Em Blackjack- Part 2
Part Two: Andy Goetsch explains Hold'Em Blackjack and gives strategic tips on how to become an excellent poker player. This is a great poker guide to learn the necessary basics to beat your friends and family at poker tournaments.
Step 1: Dealing The Cards
Everybody gets dealt one card. You're hoping to get an ace. The card's dealt face down. That one card is what you're going to bet on.
Step 2: The First Round
After the first round, you're going to get a second card, one more card, and that card's goingto be face up. Everybody's going to see it. You're going to know what your bottom card is. They won't. You're going to know what you have so far. You might have an Ace up but a 2 down. Nobody will know that you got the 2 down.
Step 3: Check, Raise Or Fold
The first person to act is the guy after the button. He's got to decide whether he can just check, bet $400, or fold. Betting goes around just like in Hold'Em, Texas Hold'Em.
Step 4: The Last Round
The last round. This is the killer. You're going to get to complete your hand. You can take as many cards as you want. When you go over, don't tell anybody. You can bluff that hand if you want.
Step 5: The Bluff
With the first person after the button, he can decide to bet anywhere between $400 and $2,000. We call it "spread limit." Here's where you can bluff your opponent out. You've got an Ace showing. He's got a 9 showing. Pop it up to the max and how can he call that bet? He's going to have to know that you're bluffing. He might get a read on you, though. You don't know. That's the beauty of the game.
Step 6: Strategy
Need a winning strategy?
People ask me about, what's the right strategy to play in this game? Well, it's like 14 different strategies. If people just play a 10 or an Ace, then they fold their hand if they don't have a 10 or an Ace. Me, I play any card and I like raising right up front. This way nobody knows what the heck I got. We get to the 2nd round, and I get an up card, I don't care if I started with a 5, if I get an Ace showing and I raised beforehand, what can they put me on? They're going to have to put me on 21! They're going to have to fold their hand, or play me for a bluff.
Step 7: Seven Card Charlie
Are you in?
Come out with cash games in the end of January. I'm really excited about that because the player's have been asking for cash games, cash games, cash games. When these cash games come out, we're going to do something that nobody else knows about. This is the first that I'm telling anybody about them. We're going to have the 7-Card Charlie Bonus. In Hold'Em Blackjack, the only hand that beats 21 is a 7-Card Charlie. A 7-Card Charlie is any hand that is 21 or lower. So the 7-Card Charlie Bonus is going to be anywhere between $25 and as much as $100,000 to the best 7-Card Charlie hand. That's right, a $100,000 bonus for the best 7-Card Charlie. You're going to win the pot too.
