The keys to successful gardening are plenty of sun and water and above all your soil quality. Now I’m in the front of my house here and I have some of the worst soil quality here on my property. As you can see, it doesn’t look like black gold but the rich soil that you see that’s teaming with worms like in my raised beds. So I’m going to put my A-team on it adult bantam chickens.

Chickens can improve soil.

We’ve been eating eggs since December from them and they’re delicious. Now these guys lay the blue, and green and pink eggs and because they’re bantam their eggs are much smaller than regular size. So let me introduce you to the chickens. This is Napoleon, and that’s Dynamite. This is White Silk a Butt. Whoa Rocket, Rocket- Napoleon just pecked at him. There you go guys go ahead. Ah, yes no problem. Hi sweetie hi Black Silk Butt. This is Black Silk Butt and that’s Rocket right there. Hi sweetie you’re going to have to get. Up uh and look there’s an egg.
There’s just a lot of little bugs around and what they’re doing is they’re scratching the soil for me. They’re leaving behind that richness that I need for this bad powdery soil. Whoa Black Silk Butt was trying to fly. Go ahead you guys. Go ahead you guys. I didn’t get her there she goes good girl, good job you guys. And now they’re in there new home. They love it. It wasn’t hardly an issue to get them in at all. Arkkockcka. I don’t know what that means.

Cover with seeds and hay.

I’m sure you’re wondering what do you do with this mess over here. Well what I’m going to do is I’m going to get some seed, some grass seed and I’m going to lay it down on there and then I’m going to cover it with hay.
