Basic Paint Handling Techniques

Begin by preserving from the white on the paper as this allows the painting to develop from light areas to dark areas.

Damp the paper with a brush then drop in some colour letting the paper carry the pigment. The process can be controlled by how the board or paper is tilted and this effect causes the action of the water to carry the pigment.

Allow the first technique or layer to dry and then build up with a different layering technique

Continue building up layers until an image has been developed of the desired subject.
