BlackBerry: How To Send An SMS

Step 1:

Access The Compose Application

Just press the Trackwheel to access your Message Box. And from the Message Box, press the Trackwheel again to Compose an SMS.

Decide Who You Want To Contact

SMS Messages will work between mobile devices. So a mobile device is a mobile phone or a wireless phone only. So you can only contact or enter the information for your contact which has a mobile phone.

Enter The Contact Details

Press the Trackwheel. Select one of the recipients that you know has contacted you, or you want to contact, who has a mobile phone.
So let's pick a name here. Press the Trackwheel. We want to send an SMS to this person. Press the Trackwheel again and the BlackBerry will show you all of the different numbers available for this contact, but you can only send the SMS to a mobile phone. Not a phone number.
So always make sure that when you enter a specific contact that you enter the mobile phone number in the mobile section of the contact information field that is for mobile phone only. In this case, we have picked this mobile phone.

Compose Your Message

Press the Trackwheel. Sending an SMS is very similar to sending an email. You have a maximum of 160 characters that you can use, so this is really meant for short text messages.
So let's enter a quick message that we want to send to this person, and once you're finished, it is similar to other types of messages. You just basically press the Trackwheel again to send your message.
So you can enter the core of your message and you can see at the top of your message how many characters are left in this message. Normally SMS Messages are a maximum of 160 messages. This is why it is meant for short messages.

Send The Message

Press the Trackwheel and you're ready to send your message. Your message has now been sent to his mobile phone and hopefully he will reply to us soon.
