Bodyboarding: Inverted Air
Body boarding: Inverted Air. A great body boarding video explaining an advanced manoeuvre of the Inverted Air. VideoJug's champion body boarder takes us through a series of beginner and advanced moves that will impress your friends.
Step 1: You will need
Step 2: Build up speed
As with all aerials, the Inverted Air - and any off-the-lips come to that - need a good bottom turn and plenty of speed.
So check out the Videojug guides to bottom turns and surfing the line before attempting this air.
You need to head towards the lip at an angle of about 45 degrees. The hollower the wave - i.e. the more like a tube it is - the steeper your approach must be to compensate for the actual impact of the pitching lip.
Step 3: Hit the lip and fly
For maximum projection, try to hit the pitching lip of the wave as the wave reaches just past vertical.
Aim your body towards the beach, this way you won't sail off the back or get pressed in the impact zone.
Step 4: The landing
Use your hip, elbows and hands to help absorb the shock of landing and prevent hurting your back.
You can also reduce the impact by landing where the whitewater is exploding. This will you provide you with a kind of cushion.
Tips & Comments
wats up
not bad
Heres a tip, don't kick your leg out too much when you get inverted, Mike Stewart is a good example of a nice, natural looking flowing style. (I wonder if I could have used any more adjectives?)
the style of this guy is lame, there's no risk taking in his moves... THis is an example of how inverted airs shall really be: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x1h9r2_anoir-kaouchi_sport Big wave, full speed, full commitment...
