Bodyboarding: Stalling
Body boarding: Stalling. Our champion body boarders take you through a series of beginner and advanced body boarding tricks to improve your technical prowess. Follow the basic instructions in the video to become a body boarding pro.
Step 1: You will need
Step 2: Dragging the legs
The key to a good tube ride is often in the ability of the rider to stall effectively for the lip to overtake. There are two easy methods to applying the brakes.
The first is probably the more functional of the two methods: Dragging your legs. This will slow down your momentum and moving your hip to the inside rail can also create drag.
Step 3: Pulling on the nose
This method of stalling is probably the easier one and can be tried by any beginner.
Pull up on the nose of your board to slow you down. This action causes the tail to dig in, creating a strong resistance and can bring to an almost complete stop.
As the lip begins to throw, it's at your own discretion when to release this type of stall, and you have to be very careful that you don't stall too heavily and lose too much speed.
Once you've mastered stalling, you're well on your way to pulling off your favourite manoeuvres. Why not check out our other bodyboard masterclasses right here on Videojug.
