Hi, I'm Simon from Box Smart. I'm an Amateur Boxing Association qualified boxing tutor. Today I'm going to go through some boxing techniques with you.
For more information visit our site Boxing-Classes dot net. I'm going to show you how to throw a jab from an orthodox and southpaw position now. The jab is thrown with your lead hand, and it's a really important punch in boxing because you use it the most out of all of the punches.
So, from an orthodox position here, I'm going to throw the jab with my lead hand. As my arm extends, my shoulder comes up to protect my head here. The next point being my chin faces downwards, again to protect my chin.
If you look down to my hips now, as I throw the shot, my hip twists through here. My foot as well moves to allow my hip to come through. This is the difference between scoring and missing the target.
So, a little bit quicker just to show you in real time, there, jab, back. Always looking directly at your opponent, chin facing down, jab and back. From a southpaw stance now, so my other hand will be my lead hand here in my set position.
As my arm extends, shoulder protecting my face, also chin pointing downwards. Rear hand up protecting my head. As I move back here, hip turning and coming through the movement there, and then back, and again my feet turning, allowing my hip to come all the way through the movement.
Always end in a set position. In a quicker movement again, from here jab and back. There, and back always into my set position.
That's how to throw a jab. .
