Hi, I'm Simon from Box Smart. I'm an Amateur Boxing Association qualified boxing tutor. Today I'm going to go through some boxing techniques with you.

For more information visit our site Boxing-Classes dot net. I'm going to show you how to throw a right cross. A right cross is thrown from an orthodox position, so in your set position here, hands up, you would throw your rear hand to cross.

So as my arm comes through, looking at your target, again chin pointing downwards, shoulder coming all the way through the movement. With your hips, your hip turns here, allows the punch to hit the target, and then also allowing your foot to slightly leave the floor and be on the balls of your foot. Again, this allows your hip to come through.

Lead hand up protecting your face here. So, this is throwing the right cross from the orthodox position here. If you were in a southpaw position, you would throw the cross with your rear hand which would be your left hand in the other direction.

So, main points to remember when throwing a right cross are as you come through the movement, always look at your target, chin facing downwards, hips moving through the movement here, and on to the balls of your foot on your back foot, it allows your hips to come through. So, the right cross is often used after a jab for a 1-2 combination. This is a rangy punch, normally thrown from out of range moving in towards your target.

A straight punch also, and it's used quite often throughout a drill. Here, here. 1-2.

Here, here. That's how to throw a right cross. .
