Build Self-Confidence With Hypnosis - Chapter 1
Self-confidence is an attitude. With it, you believe that within reason, you are able to do whatever you want to do. The root of confidence lies within the unconscious, so hypnosis is a great tool for building confidence and control over your life.
Step 2: Self Confidence
Self confidence is an attitude which will allow you to have a positive yet realistic view of yourself and your situations. When you have self-confidence, you’ll trust your own abilities and experience a general sense of control over your life. You’ll believe that, within reason, you will be able to do whatever you want to do.
Step 3: Systematic De-sensitization
There are several techniques that you can use to increase your level of self-confidence. One such technique is called Systematic De-sensitization. For instance, imagine that a young man, who is afraid of heights, wants to learn to dive into a swimming pool from a high diving board. With Systematic De-sensitization, he would start out by locating a diving board that is close enough to the water that it elicits little or no feelings of fear, and he jumps in – feet first. When he lands unharmed, he realizes on both a conscious level and an unconscious level that jumping from that height does not present any danger. He may jump in from that height several times, and each time he’ll reinforce the belief that it’s safe to jump in from that low diving board. Next, now that he feels confident on this low board, he starts to dive in head-first. Each time he lands unharmed, he realizes both on a conscious and unconscious level that diving from that height does not present any danger and his self-confidence grows. Eventually, his confidence becomes so great that he begins to learn how to trick dive at this same board height. Next he finds a diving board that is only slightly higher than the board he’s been diving from. As he masters that board, he progressively increases the height of the board that he’s diving from, and each time that he lands unharmed, his self-confidence increases to an even greater extent.
Step 4: Systematic De-sensitization
I think that you’re beginning to get the picture here. Each time he dives in and lands unharmed, his confidence grows and so does his expectation of success on the next step up the ladder. Eventually, he’s able to feel complete confidence about diving from any height above the water. Systematic De-sensitization works well in reality but it can work even more quickly when a person is in a hypnotic state and they simply imagine going through the same experiences as they would in reality.
Step 5: Progressive Relaxation
It’s time for you to learn your first mental exercise for building self confidence. Think about how your life will improve as you begin to feel more confidence. What I’d like you to do is to sit back and take a few moments and allow yourself to begin to relax. If you know how to do progressive relaxation, then you should go ahead and do that. Or, you can download one of my free power relaxation MP3’s from the www.neuro-vision.us website, or you can simply fantasize a relaxing experience.
Step 6: Fantasize a Relaxing Experience
Do you enjoy sunsets? If you do, fantasize a beautiful sunset and imagine that you can smell a hint of salt in the air. Imagine that you can feel a cool breeze on your skin. Imagine hearing the sounds that you would actually hear if you were outside watching a sunset. As you begin to feel relaxed, what I’d like you to do is to make a mental movie of yourself, and in your movie I want you to see yourself in a situation where you previously lacked self confidence. But this time I want you to see yourself actually experiencing all of the confidence you want to feel. Make your movie as realistic as possible. To the best of your ability, I’d like you to make your movie in color, close, three-dimensional, focused sharply and normally bright. Adjust your movie so that it feels as real and believable as possible, and see yourself in that situation exhibiting complete self confidence. Now allow your consciousness to come back to the video screen. The more often you watch your mental movie, the better. Bedtime is an excellent time to make these mental movies, where you see yourself experiencing all of the confidence that you’ve always dreamed of.
Step 7: The Next Chapter
In the next chapter, we’ll discuss more aspects of self confidence, and how you can go about getting tremendously powerful feelings of confidence.
If you’d like to see the next chapter in the series right now, or you want to move on to one of the other topics that I cover in my videos, like appetite suppression and weight loss, or how to quit smoking, or kick the smokeless tobacco addiction, or any of my other videos, then you should know that I host the self-hypnosis video blog where you can easily access all of my free videos in one centralized place. This free library is a work in progress so new videos are being added all the time.
