Chanda-Leah, The World's Smartest Dog - Part 1
A lot of dog owners would probably make the bold claim that their dog is the smartest dog in the world. But those dogs would probably have a hard time going head-to-head with Chanda-Leah. She can sit, she can fetch…and do about a thousand other tricks – no exaggeration! Chanda even attracted the attention of the Guinness Book of World Records. Watch just a few tricks from the world’s smartest dog – who has attracted attention from the likes of the Queen of England, David Letterman and Jay Leno.
-
Step 1:
-
Meet Chanda-Leah.
-
If your dog sits on command and knows his name you might think your dog is pretty smart. Then again you probably haven't met Chanda-Leah, an eleven-year-old poodle from Canada. Chanda knows how to sit and fetch and about a thousand other tricks. Chanda holds the Guinnes World Record for the most tricks performed by a dog, thanks to her trainer and mum, Sharon Robinson.
-
Step 2:
-
Mathematical dog.
-
There has never been a dog, either past or present, that has ever been responding to over a thousand hand and verbal commands. Chanda can add, substract, multiply and knows the days of the week, the months of the year, the alphabet.
Sharon doesn't have to worry about checking and sorting the mail, Chanda does it for her. Good girl, now go get the letter addressed to mommie. What a good girl. Chanda even knows what to do with junk mail. Now that's just junk mail chanda, what do you do with that? That's a good girl Chanda.
-
Step 3:
-
World Record Holder.
-
So how popular is Chanda-Leah, the world's smartest dog? Well she's been in The Guiness Book of World Records and The National Enquirer. The Queen of England has written to her, so has Barbara Bush and she's been on every major TV show. This is one dog that deserves her own television show.
Chanda is extremely treat motivated, she will work for the treats, sometimes she won't work for a treat. Now if we're on stage doing doing a show for a lot of people she'll just keep going. But here at home, its give me a treat. Chanda can you show me where my right hand is, I'll give you a treat, where is my right hand, put your paws in my right hand? That's right.
-
Step 4:
-
Celebrity Dog.
-
Chanda's ability has taken her all over the world and she's appeared on TV shows like The Tonight Show and David Letterman.
Next time on The Pet Report Sharon will reveal some of her training secrets. For The Pet Report, I'm Mitch Wilder.
