Clothes And Equipment For Paintball
Paintball is a team game that requires skill with a gun, tactical awareness and the ability to work as a team- and it also requires the right kit. Videojug went to Mayhem Paintballing in Abridge, Essex, to see what gear you need to make your day paintballing as comfortable as possible.
Step 1: Kit for playing
You'll be provided with a camo-suit, an ammo belt, goggles, and a gun. You can learn more about the gun by watching Videojug's How To Use A Paintball Gun, but for more info about the other kit you'll need, keep watching.
Step 2: Clothes
Your camo suit will keep you warm, dry and protected from paintball hits. But what should you wear underneath? One thing you should avoid is a fleece or heavy jumper. As your body heats up from running around, it will generate a lot of hot air. There is a chance this air will rise up into your goggles- steaming up the lenses, and making it difficult to see. For this reason, Mayhem recommend that under your camo-suit you wear only a pair of jogging bottoms and a T-shirt, or very light jumper.
Step 3: Footwear
The ground in the paintball zone can be rough and uneven, and you will probably be diving about and rolling around dodging paintballs and shooting at people. So it's a good idea to wear some tough boots that offer ankle support, and give you some grip. Failing that, a decent pair of trainers will do- but make sure they aren't your best ones as they are likely to get dirty and paint- splashed.
Step 4: Headwear
Your goggles are an absolutely critical piece of kit. Remember that a paintball from a gun travels at 200 miles per hour- which does unprotected eyes some serious damage. You must keep your goggles on AT ALL TIMES in the paintball zone.
If you wear glasses, then check in advance that your paintball venue keeps anti-fogging solution on site. This coats your glasses and prevents them from steaming up when you are playing.
Good luck playing paintball
