In this video, you will learn how to make an easy cornbread casserole using tips such as pre-made cream of corn instead of actual corn, and using other ingredients most people might not be aware of that they can find at a supermarket.
Hi there. I'm going to show you how to make a corn casserole, which is incredibly simple but there are a few component ingredients to this which you may not be aware of. I, for one, for example, was not aware of corn style cream.
You can buy it in a supermarket. What I would recommend is if you can't buy it, buy normal corn, add a bit of water to it and lightly parse it until you get this texture. I'm going to put this in the pan first because this is the toughest one and this is what we're looking for.
See, I can hear people all over the world going, "See, yes". Then we're going to start adding that butter in. I always like to sort of mix and add because I never really like the thought of it splitting, as you can see, it kind of is already.
Don't worry too much if it does split because we can fix that later on. As you can see, the extra corn there is just putting everything together, and now, I'm going to start adding the muffin style mix which you buy - it actually comes in packets and you can get from health food shops. So I'm going to keep mixing that.
I don't put all the butter in at this stage for the reasons that I've just mentioned. They're just split, and it's just much easier to work on this basis. So, now, I can put a bit more butter in feeling a bit more confident with that, as you can see, it does split straight away.
Don't worry too much about that yet. Keep mixing it. There we go.
And finally, what I'm going to do is add some sour cream to this. In it goes. It gives you that lovely sort of tanginess because it's quite sweet, sweet, sweet corn but I think this will balance it out quite nicely.
Remember, cookery is all about texture, and this is the texture you should be looking for. What I'm now going to do is pop that in the tin. That goes straight in the oven about 150 degrees for about three-quarters of an hour.
Our corn casserole is ready and so take it out of the oven. Lovely and golden on the top! Now, the mistake would obviously be to try and cut it up and plate it up. Now, what you need to do is when something's come out of the oven, just give it 5 minutes to relax.
But we've got our corn casserole and what most people do is even in the tin just cut out little squares, but I'm going to turn it out because I'm tempting fate and also I think you could govern portion control more accurately so it looks better from a presentation point of view. Just turn it out like that, and then I'd put that one on top and turn that upside down. Ladies and gentlemen, that is how you make a cornbread casserole. .
