Eco Friendly Christmas, Part Two

More helpful hints for an eco-friendly Christmas.

Step 1:
-
Eco Friendly Christmas.
-
As consumer debt reaches record levels and foreclosures are at an all time high, Christmas 2007 will put Americans deeper in the whole. With the approach of peak oil and a struggling economy the cost of living is rapidly increasing. Every Christmas I brave the mall to find the perfect gifts at the right price, but this year is different, this year I’m going to have an eco-friendly and a wallet friendly Christmas. Check out some of my ideas on how to produce, recycle and reuse to make your holiday special.

Step 2:
-
Herbs:
-
Since I’m the Garden Girl, I’m going to give away some potted herbs and I’m going to make them really special. I’m not just going to tie a ribbon around this plastic black pot here. I’m going to transplant them into this terra cotta pot here.
This is a rose pot and as you can see I have already written Rosemary on it and I’m going to now plant it. I’m going to take this Spanish moss, and its really decorative moss, and, because this is a gift, I’m going to put this around the top. Now this is really good, not only because it is going to make it look pretty, but it is going to act as a mulch. So when we water it it’s going to keep that moisture in to the pot and then my Rosemary is going to grow beautifully.
So you can grow this Rosemary in this pot here as long as you continue trimming it and keeping it pretty compact. But if you want it to grow into one of those huge Rosemary bushes that are so beautiful and that are going to smell amazing inside your house, you are going to have to transplant it into another bigger pot periodically.

Step 3:
-
Knitted Hats:
-
These are knitted hats, this right here, this is my Patriots hat. Its got all the colors of the New England Patriots, isn’t that pretty? Isn’t that nice? Let me see how this looks on me, all right I might not want to give this away.
-
Step 4:
-
Re-usable shopping Bags.
-
This is something that I am also giving away as a gift; it is one of those reusable shopping bags. It’s the 21st century, its 2007, its about to be 2008, we have to get rid of all these stupid garbage plastic bags and we need to start using these reusable, washable shopping bags. This one I got at Allandale Farm and I just think it is going to make a really cute gift. So not only is this bag a good eco friendly gift its also going to be the gift bag. Every time they go to the supermarket, they’ll think of me.
