You don't have to hire a professional anymore to do exterior wall fixes with a flawless finish in your home. Watch these tips from Polycell. It's actually easier than you think.
Step 1: Introduction
Exterior wall fixes. Holes on the outside of your home don’t look great but can usually be fixed a lot more easily than you might think. Here are a few simple tricks and tips from Polycell to keeping your exterior walls in perfect condition.
Step 2: Filling deep and awkward holes
For deep cavities, Polycell’s Expanding Foam Polyfilla will create a long lasting seal that will protect against heat, mites and moisture. Check the surfaces are clean and free from dust odious material. Mask off the surrounding area and spray a bit of water into the hole. Using gloves and wearing goggles, carefully fix the nozzle onto the valve without over-tightening it.
Step 3: Apply the Expanding Foam
Shake the can and then start filling at the lowest point. If the foam that you first apply doesn’t expand and doesn’t completely fill the hole, gently squirt in a little bit more. After 12 hours, the foam can be cut. When used outside, all exposed foam must be painted or covered with Polycell Exterior Filler to prevent weather damage.
Step 4: Fixing Surface Damage
Big or small cracks and holes can easily be filled with a weather-proof by Polycell Exterior Polyfilla. For best results, remove any dirt and loose material from the hole before applying. Knead the tube, then squeeze the tube directly into the hole or crack.
Step 5: Apply the Exterior Polyfilla
Smooth off with a wet filling knife. If the hole is deeper than 10 mm, build the filler up in layers, letting it dry between each application. For a smooth finish, overfill the hole slightly and smooth it down with a wet filling knife. When it’s fully dry, you can then sand it down to get it perfectly levelled with the wall surface
Step 6: Fixing Masonry
From repairs to masonry, paving or drains, Polycell Quick Set Cement is what we need as it will set rock hard in minutes and can even be used underwater. Brush away any loose material and clean the area with a damp sponge before you get started.
Step 7: Apply Quick Set Cement
Next, add three parts of Polycell Quick Set Cement to one part water. Adding the powder to the water will make it easier to mix and create the best results. Apply with a filling knife, working well into the repair to ensure a good bond. Within 5 minutes, level off with a wet knife before it starts to set. And there you have it, a flawless finish with minimum fuss.
