Fashion Trends: How To Wear Heritage

Celebrity Stylist Zoe Lem teaches you how to wear the heritage trend for Autumn / Winter.

Step 1: Build it up

A key aspect of this vintage look is layered shapes with tops, waistcoats, jewellery and scarves. Combine fabrics and texture without adding too much bulk by keeping the fabrics thin.

Step 2: Waisted

This look is also about the nipped in waist with belts, fitted jackets and pencil skirts. Slim line shapes create a slick, strict style.

Step 3: The Country Look

A prim and polished style with belts, scarves and handbags. A silk scarf can be worn around the neck or even on the head for the full effect of the trend. Soften the look of knitwear with a silk blouse underneath a woollen jumper.

Step 4: Tartan

A key look for Autumn / Winter is to mix checked fabrics. The catwalk is awash with vivid colours, but neutral colours can work well together for a more subtle look.

Step 5: Military

This style includes structured jackets, braiding and brass buttons. The uniform feel can be softened with a frilled blouse. Skirts should be A-line if you are pear shaped, or if you are more hourglass, try a pencil skirt.
