Fish Part II
Fish are very relaxing pets to observe and fairly easy to care for. This video is a continuation of how to care for your fish and what to look for when purchasing a tank and fish to put in your tank. Do you want saltwater or freshwater? Which fish get along with each other? Which fish are the best to have in your life? All of these questions and more are answered right here.
Step 1: Fish are relaxing.
Ask any fish owner and they will tell you the same thing. Fish are very relaxing.
Jeff Turner: People who have aquariums are really excited about them. And because of that it helps them to relax just to have something they really enjoy when they come home.
Step 2: Lower blood pressure and reduce stress.
Watching fish has been proven to lower blood pressure and reduce stress. Studies have even shown that kids who grow up in households with fish have higher SAT scores and maintain higher GPA’s.Fish are pretty easy to take care of which is why 1 in 8 households in America have a fish tank, whether it is a simple fish water tank or a hundred gallon living ecosystem with coral and sponges.
Keeping fish can be very rewarding. So what should you look for before diving into fish?Jeff Turner: Well, when you get started with your aquarium, it is important to consider your budget which you are going to be investing to your aquarium, and put the right size tank in to accommodate the fish that you desire.
So use about an inch per gallon of fish per tank, so, if you have about a 10-gallon tank, you put about 10 inches of fish in their total.
Step 3: Fish have personalities.
We all know that our dogs and cats have personalities but you realize that our fish have personalities too? Some fish like Puffer fish actually puff themselves up to scare away predators, while other fish like to dig little caves at the bottom of their aquariums. Fish have great personalities too.
Once you get living, breathing, ecosystem up and running. The most important thing is to keep it clean and well-maintained.
Jeff Turner: There are fish that are aggressive towards each other. And it is important to make sure you pick the right tank companions.
Step 4: Fish are a great alternative.
For people who don’t have time for cat or dog, a tank full of fish may be just the stress relieving pet they are looking for.
