Flick-On Headers

Welcome to the Videojug Soccer School, brought to you in association with the Brazilian Soccer Schools. In this film we show you some drills to improve your flick-on headers.
-
Flick-on is a header used to direct the ball on to a team-mate or into a dangerous area of the pitch. The idea of a flick-on is to help the ball continue in a forward direction, over or around the defender. The flick on can be done using the forehead or top of the head.
-
With three players you will need a feeder at one end, a player to flick on and a catcher at the other end. The feeder should throw the ball to the player to flick on so that the catcher can catch. Make sure you get enough of a touch so the ball carries to the catcher but that the contact doesn't send the ball too high or wide. Attack the ball by going to meet it.
-
Very much the same as drill one but this time bring in a fourth player. The new player should act as a defender so the player flicking on needs to be strong, get in front of the defender and flick-on to the catcher. Create space for yourself first and then flick-on.
