Golf: Stop Hitting Fat

Golf: Stop Hitting Fat - A short video with our very own golf tutor explaining how to avoid hitting fat shots and creating divots on your golf course.
-
Step 1:
-
Check your set-up
-
When you set up, place your club behind the ball to check that your posture is not too low.
-
The club should not reach the ground a few inches behind the ball.
-
This allows you to keep your body at the same height throughout the swing.
-
If you are too low, you will hit fat unless you straighten up to compensate during your swing.
-
Step 2:
-
Check your balance
-
Set up with your weight on the balls of your feet, leaning slightly forwards with your upper body.
-
Keep your weight on the balls of your feet throughout the swing.
-
This posture helps to ensure that the club swings into the ball parallel with the line of the shot.
-
Making the club swing down at the ball, so there is less chance of hitting fat .
-
Step 3:
-
Check your feet
-
Make sure you set up with your right foot pointing straight forwards.
-
This makes it easier to shift your weight to the inside of your right foot at the top of the back swing.
-
So you can transfer your weight to your left foot as you turn your body through the swing.
-
The movement of the right foot is similar to the way a sprinter pushes out of the starting blocks.
-
And allows for an accurate swing, for a clean contact with the ball.
