-
Before you start to play check that your guitar is in tune. Watch our other films on how to tune your guitar, if you are unsure.
-
The minor chords are very different to the major chords in that they make a much sadder sounding chord.
-
The D minor is one of the most difficult chords to play because the finger tips are in quite an unnatural position.
-
To play the D minor chord, the first finger goes on to the top E, in the first fret. The second finger is on G string in second fret. The little finger is on the B string in the third fret. The root note is on the D.
-
Practise the chord.
-
Once you get the hang of the chord try playing the D minor with the E minor. Starting in the D minor chord release the first finger to make the E. Do two beats to each chord. The root note is the open D.
-
If you know the C chord, try going from D minor to C.
-
Keep practising until your chords are smooth and without buzzing and humming sounds.
-
If you are unsure of any of the other chords we have mentioned, make sure to watch our other films which will show you how to play them.
