A major scale consists of 8 notes, a root note all the way up to the octave. This scale starts with an E and ends with an E.
Starting with an open E, you will use one finger per fret. This is the number pattern of the frets to practise the scale.
Open E, 2, 4…..open, 2, 4……1, 2
It is good to practise the scale for dexterity and to build up your speed. And it's also a great exercise for your fingers. Try doing the scale backwards too.
