Guitar - Picking In C
VideoJug presents a short instructional video with tips and advice for picking in C.
Before you start to play check that your guitar is in tune. Watch our other films on how to tune your guitar, if you are unsure.
Finger picking helps to break up the rhythm.
Find the chord of C. The thumb will play the root note which in this case is the C which is being played by the third finger. Use the second finger on the right hand to pick the top E.
Try alternating between the two building up a steady rhythm. Now use the first finger to pick the B string putting it in between the C and the E. Try to build up a nice, steady rhythm again and if you can play double time.
Keep practising until your chords are smooth and without buzzing and humming sounds. Don't worry; this technique does not come immediately as the fingers are not always used to the quick movements,
If you are unsure of any of the other chords we have mentioned, make sure to watch our other films which will show you how to play them.
