Do you know how to choose the right brush for your hair type? Or which brush will help you achieve that fabulous new style? This video features Nic Davis from Simplicity Remastered, showing you how to choose and use round brushes, vent brushes, paddle brushes and tail brushes to get the style you want.

Hi, my name is Nic Davis from Simplicity Remastered, and today I am here to talk to you about what is in my equipment bag. This is a collection of brushes that I use every day. There are several different types, each one has a specific use.

We will start off with a vent brush. The reason it is called a vent brush is because it has these vents in it. This is primarily used for combing out very tangled hair, or just being able to lift the hair gently while you blow dry.

The next brush we have here is a semi round brush. The reason why we call it a semi round is obvious. This brush is primarily used for blow drying hair straight, that is shorter to jaw length.

For example, bobs. We now have a paddle brush, very similar to a semi round, a paddle brush is used for hair that is shoulder length or longer and this is just for blow drying the hair smooth, it is cushioned so it grips the hair as you pull it through, which gives it just enough tension to blow dry it nice and straight for you. Here we have four round brushes.

Round brushes change the hair shape.
Here we have a metal barrelled, plastic bristled, round brush. You would use this brush primarily for people with very thick, very curly hair.

We then have three grated, natural bristle brushes. This is for finer hair that wishes to be blow dried. You determine how much curl you want in the hair by the diameter of the brush.

The final brush we have is a teasing, or dressing out, brush. This is used when doing hair ups, being able to control the little finer details in hair, including a thin tail to be able to tuck in any stray pieces of hair that fall out from the up do. What makes a good brush is the quality of the brush, the bristles and that is it comfortable for you to use.
