Help! I'm Struggling With My Schoolwork
Help! I'm struggling with my school work! - Moving up to secondary school can be a big change, and it can take a while to adjust. If you find yourself struggling with your schoolwork you might not know who to turn to. We've spoken to David Littlemore, assistant head teacher at Whitton School in London, to get his advice.
If your struggling at school it's important to speak to someone about it as soon as possible. Speak to your form tutor, the teacher who set the work, or another teacher that you trust. They will be able to discuss the issues with you and help you find a way of working that will work best for you.
It's a good idea to speak to your parents as they may be able to offer a different perspective on your homework. It's good to get things off your chest, and your parents are well positioned to be able to offer you support.
Get organised. Think about the tasks that you have to do and put them into a logical order. Allocate realistic amounts of time to each task and tick them off as you go. Get yourself a diary or personal organiser to record which homework you have been set, by whom, what the task is and when it's due. Break your work up into manageable chunks.
Try to find things that you are good at - this will boost your confidence. Try lots of different things and don't be afraid to fail. You might find a talent you didn't know you had.
