This video walks you through the differences between the Nintendo DS and the 3DS. You are shown the new options that are available on the 3DS in comparison.
The 3DS is the gaming platform for Nintendo. It's actually quite different from the DS so I'm going to tell you how this works. To start the 3DS, you just open the clamshell device and it automatically comes on.
If it's been manually powered down, you can use the power button here to switch it on manually. And you'll see on the main screen a series of icons. Each of these represents a game or some other settings that you can access on the 3DS.
Over on the right, there's the 3D slider that controls the depth of the 3D display and on the left, something you wouldn't have seen in the previous DS is a circle control for direction. And around the body of the 3DS, you've got extra controls, the volume, a slot for an SD card and the 3DS comes with a two gig card by default but you can put a bigger card in there for more storage of games. A headphone socket, LED for power, main power.
Here, you can turn the wireless on and off. Save battery. And then, around the back, you have the slot for the 3DS games or DS games and the 3DS stylus.
Back on the front of the console, there is a series of three buttons here. Start and select, you'll be familiar with if you've used a DS but the home button is used to return to this home screen if you're playing a game. That means you can jump in and out of a game and then use the top notes for internet button to get tips or record your progress in your game.
Then, press home to return to playing. So, in summary, I've taken you through the different features on the 3DS, how it works and how it's different from the DS. So, that's how the 3DS works. .
