How Many Seeds To Plant
How Many Seeds To Plant: A lawn care professional explains how to calculate the size of your lawn, and use that information to purchase enough grass seed for the area.
Hi. I'm Mike, and this is Dan, and we're from The Lawn Company. We have a wealth of experience in looking after lawns, large and small.
We're going to show you some handy tips on how to care for your lawn. I'm going to show you how many grass seeds to plant. There are various ways of doing this.
Simply one foot in front of the other, that would measure it in feet. So measure the width and the depth. Or stride it out, that's roughly a yard.
Or with a measuring tape, measure thus. Or, for a little bit more sophistication, use a metric measuring wheel that will count off in tenths of a meter as you walk across the lawn. Multiply the width by the depth to end up with the number of square feet, yards, or meters.
Now you've measured your lawn, you're easily able to calculate how much grass seed you need for the given task. This box of grass seed is four hundred and twenty grams. It covers fourteen square meters.
This gives you about thirty grams per single square meter. In layman's terms, that's a good handful per single square meter. If your lawn's a lot larger than the requirements of this box, let's say you've got a hundred square meters, you will need three kilos of grass seed to cover that lawn.
That's how many grass seeds to plant. .
