Hi. I'm Ali McMullen, Freestyle instructor. I work at Hemel Snow Centre.

I work at FUB Park putting on events, and we're here today at the Hemel Snow Centre to teach you how to do a 180 on a snowboard. So the fundamentals to a 180 on a snowboard, this includes using the ollie that was talked about in a previous video, as well as using rotation. There's fundamentally four ways you can do a 180.

This is basically frontside, where if I'm going this direction, my body turns to the front. There's backside, which, again, if I'm going in this direction, turns to the back. And then, similarly, if it's switch, you've got switch frontside, and switch backside.

So I'll show you right now how to do a backside 180. This, as I said earlier, includes the ollie, and what you want to do in your, just a quick recap of going down over your back foot, and pulling back where it flexes and jumping. What you want to do is, when you come to that jump, so you're in this position here, you want to jump, but rotate your shoulders, your hips, and your head in the position that you want to go.

So, we're going backside 180, so I'm going to jump and rotate this way, so looking backside. And my board will come around. It will always follow your hips, and therefore your shoulders and your head.

So here's the ollie, and now this time, here's the ollie with the backside 180. Alright, generally on a snowboard, with the four 180s, the easiest is a switch frontside 180, as you're going switch and you land regular. Followed by a backside 180, followed by a frontside 180, followed by a switch backside 180, which is the hardest.

What I'll do right now is, I'll show you how to do a frontside 180. Again, if you go down with the ollie, and just as you pop up, rotate your shoulders frontside, so you start coming around the front. And this one's good, whereas backside is kind of blind, you kind of just have to trust where you're landing.

With frontside fully see where you're going, and see your landing, and spot everything. So, to show you quickly, come down with the ollie, start rotating your shoulders. So, come down, and there you go.

And that's how you do a 180 on a snowboard.
