Hello, I'm Sarah Lloyd-Hughes from Ginger Training and Coaching, and today I'd like to give you a bite-size coaching technique on personal development. If you would like any more information about my self or my company, please visit go-ginger.com.

We're at a very privileged time in history when we're not just looking beyond our nose to the next meal. There are all sorts of development opportunities around there to learn, grow and to develop. This is broadly what we call self-improvement.

But the first thing to notice about self-improvement is that it's not something that we achieve, it's a life-long process that people go through. Many people choose to go through that process with the help of a coach and actually speeds up self-improvement, and here, I'd like to share some techniques with you to help you become your own coach. Now, of course, there are many different coaching tools and techniques available but in this video, I'd like to tell you about a very simple, very effective technique called the wheel of life.

Get yourself a pen and a piece of paper, and take a moment to copy out the wheel of life here with its eight segments as headings. Now, you're going to score yourself on how satisfied you are with each of these areas in your life right now. So that's not how much money you have, but how satisfied you are with the money you have.

So, give yourself a score and then, join up the lines here so you end up with your wheel of life, and ask yourself, what do you notice when you look at your wheel of life? Is it quite big? Is it a little bit small? Is it half a bit lopsided? What we've basically done is to create a map of your self-improvement needs. Now, your next step is to pick one or two areas to focus on to improve yourself in. For me, perhaps that would be family life.

You probably know a couple of things that you can do in that area right now, even if it's something that's quite difficult. Or if you're struggling to find options, that is the time to bring in a coach. This is a fun and quick exercise to do to check in on your self and to see how you're doing over time.

Do it every week and see how the shape of your wheel changes. So, that was the wheel of life exercise. I hope it helps you on your self-improvement journey.

As I mentioned at the beginning of this video, Ginger Training and Coaching run various coaching programs specifically designed to develop you. It's possible on your own but it works so much faster with a coach. So, head along to go-ginger.
