How To Act Confident
This short video tutorial will teach you tips used by performers to disguise the tell-tale indicators of nervousness and to appear confident.
How to act confident. A lot of people I know work in performance arts, and many of them get incredibly nervous before they begin doing whatever it is they're doing, and they have to get techniques for overcoming fear and nerves, and to appear quite confident. How do they do this? Well, breathing is the starting point.
If you want to feel and look confident, begin by taking really deep breaths and breathing deeply and well. And coming from a space of being confident, put your feet on the floor, breathe deeply and smile. That's a great place to start.
And if you're feeling confident inside, then others around you will see you as confident. You can cover up nerves by keeping eye contact, smiling, making sure your voice sounds strong. And keep your body language strong.
Keep your shoulders back, your head high, and act as if you're utterly confident regardless of how you feel inside. That's a great place to start and others will think, "Hmm. They're confident".
And you can build this, and build it. It's all about just feeling it first, and then coming from that place of feeling confident. Remember a time when you felt really confident, and come from that memory.
That will really help. We often detect when people are under-confident by a squeaky voice, so keep your voice strong and remember that sometimes a pause and being quiet is really a powerful indicator that you're confident. Talking slowly and powerfully is really impressive as a confidence booster.
