How To Activate Windows 7

Hi, my name is Ghamza Jacobs and I am an IT trainer with New Horizons in London. I'm here today just to show you a couple of cool little tips and tricks on Windows 7 and Office 2010. How to activate Windows 7? We've got a brand new installation of Windows 7 Ultimate over here.

And one of the final steps now is to activate Windows. So that we're really registering, with Microsoft registering the system, this will enable us to use it past the 50 days or 60 days default. So one of the easy ways to do this, is you got to go into your system settings.

To do that, we hit the Windows logo, previously known as the Start button in the bottom left corner. Then go into the control panel, System and Security, and then System. There is a shorter way to get to this, some of you may know you can right-click on my computer, go to properties too.

But if you go to the Control Panel, System and Security, System, this is where you can see the information on the system. Things like: your computer name, whether it belongs to a domain or a work group. And at the bottom of here, of course, we can see Windows activation.

I've got 50 days left to activate. And there I've got my product key. Now you have to enter your product key over here.

So, what we'll do is, I'll just put one product key real quick, hit next. Now, once you enter your product key, Windows will automatically go online and attempt to activate. So the key is being verified, it's really verifying that you've bought a copy of Windows and that it's a legitimate copy, if you have not been the victim of software counterfeiting.

And there we go, activation was successful. I now have 100% genuine Windows activated, genuine Microsoft product. And you'll now have a brandspanking new copy of Windows 7, totally activated, ready to go.
