How To Apply Emo Eyeliner

The emo-pop culture continues to grow and it wouldn't be complete without that distinctly dark, wild and funky eye makeup.

Hi, I'm Myriam. I'm a makeup artist and today, I'm going to show you loads of different looks on how to apply different eye shadows, different coloured eye shadows, create some classic looks but also some wild looks to go out. Hi.

I'm now going to show you how to create an emo eyeliner. So, the emo look is a look that all the teenagers and youngsters are doing at the moment which is quite funky. There are different ways of doing it.

Obviously, there is not just one set where I'm going to show you one idea. So, first one I'm doing is I'm using a pale eye pencil to go all along the lashes. So, I want to create a white thick line, a little bit extended outwards, and I'm going to work with a gel liner which I find easier to use and a little brush like this one, and put quite a lot on.

We're going to create a really nice thick line but above that white line. So, I'm going to start from the inner corner and obviously, it's important to keep your line as straight and smooth as possible so it's going to be really extended and nice and smooth. I'm going to go back on the inner corner here and on that inner corner, I'm going to create a point.

You see what I'm doing here, I've come down and I create a point. Okay, so you're creating that lovely point here quite far down. Always make sure you have plenty of eyeliner on your brush because otherwise, you can't work precisely.

Okay, all the way there and I'm going back onto the side here so the outer side, the outer corner of the eye, and again I'm creating another point on the outer corner and I'm coming back all the way down onto the corner of my eye. So, I'm creating something quite funky. I want to make sure that my line is really nice and slim and thick.

So, that's the idea but I'm going to go over that to make it really nice and smooth. So, I take a little bit more liner. I pull the eye, that's very important, you must pull your eye really well and then, going over again, so just working over what I've just done and I'm going to rework on the white line side with my white pencil.

I'm going to take my white pencil again, pull the eye really well and just make sure there's absolutely no crease anywhere, and I'm just reworking there with the line so it's all nice and smooth. When my model opens her eye, I could see that the point could be a little bit further out so it will look nicer. So, I want to create a bit more of a dramatic effect so I'm going to take this further out and I'll just make sure that there's enough product on my brush and then bring to create a height that is quite far out, and then I'm coming back down on the angle, make it quite thick, okay, and I'm going to ask my model to open here eyes and see if that works.

And that is really cool. Okay, that works. So, that's an idea of how to create an emo line.

But the idea of it is to make it extended, inwards, outwards, but you could do it just on the root of the lashes and put your white on the top. You could also work from underneath and get the two lines to join on the corner. There are plenty of possibilities but that's one idea for you.

So, I hope you enjoyed all the different looks we created for you. If you want any more details, you can always go on my website. .
