How To Apply Glitter Eye Shadow

Go shine in this futuristic glitter eye shadow on your makeup this party season. This very detailed tutorial will help you achieve that look perfectly.

Hello, my name is Karla Barchieri. I'm a freelance makeup artist, and today, I'm going to show you a few makeup tips. Now, I'm going to show you how to apply glitter eye shadow.

My model already has a base of silver eye shadow and this is beautiful for the type of glitter I'm going to use. But first of all, I would suggest that you contour the eye because the glitter can be a bit overpowering. So, with a black pencil liner, I'm just going to very quickly her eye and just, as I said very quickly, I'm going to do this so I'm jut marking the area that I want to work on and I get my black eye shadow so I'm just going to smooth that out.

It's quite important that you do this because, otherwise, the eye is going to look too flat in my opinion and I feel that by contouring first, you know the glitter can get very fiddly, so I feel that by contouring first, you get that fiddly step quicker, okay. So, this is for a very strong eye shadow makeup. I will suggest also that after you've done your makeup that you apply your mascara, put fake eyelashes, and pretty much just go for it.

Just do as much as you can possibly with it. Okay. So, what I'm doing here is I'm blending the product outwards and just very gently making sure that her eye is shaped lovely.

So, I'm going to get a blending brush because I want to make, again, this line slightly softer and this is what I'm doing. Okay, that works quite well. Lovely! Once you're happy with your contouring, you take a mixing medium that I have already used here and you put it with your glitter.

Some people also use eyelash glue. I find the eyelash glue, you know, it can be quite strong for the lid. So, Mac sells very good mixing medium for eyes, and pretty much, you just put a little drop and then you put your glitter and you take your flat brush and just go on the area that you already have your base and put as much glitter as you can.

That's fine. So, just put a little bit more glitter in my mixing medium palette and now again, I'm just going to the eye and I'm going to press that in. You see, I'm not mobbing this too much because the glitter gets everywhere literally.

So, okay, we fill in as much as we can and you're going to see that with the mixing medium, that's going to stick very well and you can avoid the fallout of the glitter. Okay, open your eyes for me please. Lovely! So, you can again just make sure that you cover as much as you want like right now.

I'm just contouring the area and again with my black, I'm just going to go over some glitter and make sure that everything's contoured and I'm happy with this, okay. Once you have done this, all you need to do is go with your eyeliner and pretty much just build up the look. But this is, in a nutshell, how you apply glitter eye shadow. .
