Hi, I am Ava Belle international fashion make-up artist. You can see my work at ava-belle.com.

Today I am going to show some of the tricks of the trade and some of my make-up secrets. Today I am going to show you how to use a make-up primer. A make-up primer is used as a base layer before you put on your make-up.

It usually has a bit of silicon in it to help the make-up stay all day and to keep the skin nice and smooth and give you a lovely even base to start with. Apply it just like you would a moisturizer. You can use a sponge or your finger tips.

You just want to work it into the skin and make sure it is nice and even all over. It is going to give you a beautiful starting place for evening out your pores and any fine lines. When using a make-up primer it is best to skip moisturizer.

You don not want to overload on to many products. If you have moisturizer and then primer and then foundation it is going to start to slip, and that's not what you want. You want the foundation to stay all day nice and in place.

And that's where the primer comes in. You just want to use one product under your foundation, and that's it. Just don't overload.

I am going to go with the brush and a separate product that is a primer just for the eyes. I am going to take it into the eyelid and dab it out with my fingers, just two, warm up the product, this is going to give you a great base to put eye shadow on. That's is going to help it last all day without creasing, bleeding, or smudging.

You do not have to use a different product when priming the eyes, but it is a good idea to use something with a little bit of pigment, this will knock out any darkness or colour, if you have any purple or blue underneath the eyes or in the eyelid. It gives you a lovely nice base that is going to give you an even colour that is going to give you true colour of your shadow once you put your eye shadow on. Lean down, and splint that out, you do not want to have any creases.

It is always a good idea to prepare the whole face including the eyes and lips, so I am going to go in with a little bit of lip primer just to make the lips supple and nice and soft, so when we do the lipstick later on they are going to be beautiful and smooth. And you are going to get a lovely cover. You can take this off once your ready to do your lipstick.

So just let it sit while your doing your make-up. So just to recap on priming and preparing the face getting ready for make-up. It is best to use just one product at a time when you are using a primer on the whole face.

And then use a separate product on the eyes with a little bit of colour in it, and your lips, but don't overload with too many products in too many places or it is going to make your make-up move. And that is how to apply great primer for the perfect base for your make-up.
