what about the base & top coats? a base coat prevents the nailbed for being stained by the polish and a top coat seals in the color and adds shine.

Wait... in step 6 she said wash the hands so you don't polish over a layer of polish remover, then in step 9 she uses the polish remover again... and immediately applies a thin layer of polish in step 10. And, uh, what happened to the polished nails in step 13? Those are BARE nails...

To paint the nails of your other hand neatly you just need to practice, practice, practice and have fun with it like i have done, and now its a pice of cake! Painting neatly = coat the middle part of nail first, then fill in the sides with quick slides. Dont use thick layers, like she said. I find it helpful to first draw a horizontal line parallel to the edge of the nail (near cuticle) for my thumbs, and then fill in the rest of the nail. Easy!
